F.C. Bakker (Frits)
Born in 1955
Mr Bakker studied Law at the University of Groningen and went on to earn his PhD from the same institution.After his studies and a tour of duty, he entered the judges’ training programme at the Breda District Court in 1979, followed by a career as a judge at this court (adjudicating in both the Civil Law and Criminal Law divisions). In 1991 he was appointed Vice President and transferred to the Haarlem District Court, where he served first as chamber chairman and subsequently as division chairman in the Criminal Law and Civil Law divisions. In 1999, he became President of the Haarlem District Court and in 2008 he was appointed President of the Hague District Court. He joined the Council for the Judiciary on 1 July 2012, where he also served as Central Information Officer. As of the 1st of July 2013, he has been appointed as Chairman of the Council.
