Matrimonial Property Register
If partners have registered a marriage or partnership agreement with a notary in or after 1996 and applied for it to be registered in the Matrimonial Property Register (Huwelijksgoederenregister, HGR), this registration is entered in the register. Registration is not mandatory.
In the register, you can search the surnames of both partners and the date of the marriage or registered partnership.
What information does an entry in the Matrimonial Property Register contain?
- first names and surnames of both partners
- date of the marriage / registered partnership
- place of marriage / registered partnership
- registration number
- type of registration (marriage or partnership agreement)
- the court with which the marriage or partnership agreement is registered and from which it can be accessed
- date of submission of the registration application
- date of registration in the Matrimonial Property Register
Excerpt of the registration
It is possible to download and save an excerpt of the entry in the register. You cannot access or retrieve the agreement itself from the Matrimonial Property Register.
Only the partners concerned by the registration can request a copy of the marriage or partnership agreement from the court
