Amsterdam, 20 oktober 2021

The Amsterdam Court of Appeal will give its judgment in the matter of the Crimean Treasures on Tuesday 26 October 2021 at 11.00 a.m. The judgment will be in writing and will be read in open court. This public session will take place at the Palace of Justice, IJdok 20 in Amsterdam.

Crimean Treasures

Both the Ukrainian State and the Crimean Museums lay claim to the Crimean Treasures, a collection of artefacts which was lent to the Allard Pierson Museum (APM) by the Crimean Museums in 2013. In 2014, it was not clear to the Allard Pierson Museum to whom the artefacts should be returned.
The Amsterdam District Court determined in December 2016, in short, that the APM had to hand over the Crimean Treasures to the Ukrainian State. The Amsterdam Court of Appeal’s judgment is the decision on the appeal of that decision.
