Amsterdam, 11 december 2018

The Dutch Senate voted this afternoon to create the Netherlands Commercial Court (NCC District Court and NCC Court of Appeal) as part of the Amsterdam courts. The NCC legislative process is now close to completion. The final step is for the Minister of Justice and Security to issue a decree for the NCC legislation to enter into force.

The NCC is well positioned to swiftly and effectively resolve complex international business disputes. The NCC District Court and NCC Court of Appeal will be based in Amsterdam at the Palace of Justice, which is also home to the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. The NCC District Court and the NCC Court of Appeal will use Dutch procedure, which is highly regarded for its pragmatic approach and efficient operation. The NCC District Court will be a chamber in the Amsterdam District Court. It will also have a Court in Summary Proceedings (CSP), which will deal with certain matters requiring an expedited procedure and decision, such as interim measures. The NCC Court of Appeal will be a chamber in the Amsterdam Court of Appeal.
