Bij de rechtbank Overijssel (locatie Zwolle) vindt de inhoudelijke behandeling plaats van een strafzaak over grootschalige mensensmokkel vanuit Libië naar Europa via de Middellandse Zee. De man die terecht staat is volgens het Openbaar Ministerie het kopstuk van een groot internationaal mensensmokkelnetwerk. Hij staat terecht voor verschillende feiten, waaronder mensensmokkel, afpersing en witwassen.
