Live stream of the criminal trial in the DeSoto investigation

The District Court of The Hague will hear the criminal case against a man alleged to have been involved in genocide in Rwanda (the DeSoto investigation) on various days in June 2026. Due to the expected public interest, a live stream will be available. Registration for the live stream is required.

The defendant is charged with looting and destruction as warcrimes, and incitement to and the commission of genocide against the Tutsis in Mbazi, Rwanda, in April 1994.

The substantive hearing of this case will take place on the 17th, 18th, 19th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th (extra day) and 29th of June 2026. The court is currently aiming to render a verdict on 28 August 2026.

The live stream is available in three languages: Dutch, English and Kinyarwanda.
