Livestream in Shildon criminal case

The The Hague District Court will hear the criminal case against a 57-year old man on various days in April and May 2026. Due to the expected public interest there will be a livestream available. Registration for the livestream is mandatory.

The investigation, named Shildon, focuses on a suspect who allegedly served as an interrogator for the National Defense Force (NDF), a Syrian pro-regime militia, in 2013 and 2014.  In that capacity, he is alleged to have committed torture and the crimes against humanity of torture, sexual violence and rape.

The substantive hearing of the case will take place on the following dates:

  • April: 8, 9, 13, 14, 21, 22 and 23.
  • May: 12, 26.
  • The verdict will be delivered on 9 June 2026.

 

The livestream is available in three different languages: Dutch, English and Arabic (Syrian-Lebanese).
