Recently, several judges, specialised in intellectual property law, joined the Netherlands Commercial Court. This enables the NCC to deal with IP cases which require a high level of specialist expertise. Due to the international nature of many IP cases and clients, the ability to litigate in the English language allows for direct interaction between parties, their lawyers and the court. This in turn will enable the court to better understand parties’ interests and will reduce translation costs.
