Wie kan een apostille of legalisatie aanvragen?
U kunt de apostilleLegalisering van een document met een zegel of waarborgstempel van een bevoegde instantie of functionaris. Het land waarvoor het document bedoeld is, is aangesloten bij het Apostilleverdrag. of legalisatieWettiging; verklaring van echtheid. zelf aanvragen. Iemand anders mag het ook voor u doen. U hoeft die persoon niet te machtigen.
Als u naar de informatiebalie komt:
- Neem het originele document mee.
- U kunt tot 16.30 uur komen.
- Er is toegangscontrole. Bereid u daarop voor.
- De rechtbankmedewerkers leggen uit hoe u bij de centrale informatiebalie komt.
Als u per post aanvraagt:
Zet in uw brief:
- in welk land u het document wilt gebruiken.
- of het gaat om een apostille of legalisatie.
- in welke taal u dit wilt (Nederlands, Engels, Duits, Frans, Spaans of Italiaans).
- uw eigen adres.
Stuur het originele document mee met de brief.
Krijg ik een ontvangstbewijs?
- Als u de documenten bij de rechtbank afgeeft, kunt u een kopie van uw aanleverbrief krijgen van de portier/bode met daarop een stempel met de datum van ontvangst.
- Als u de documenten met de gewone post opstuurt, krijgt u geen ontvangstbewijs.
- Als u de documenten aangetekend verstuurt, krijgt u een ontvangstbewijs van PostNL.
Wat kost het?
Voor het aanvragen van een apostille of legalisatie betaalt u griffierecht aan de rechtbank.
- Bij de informatiebalie: u kunt contant betalen of pinnen.
- Per post: u krijgt een betaalverzoek of het griffierechtDe kosten die u moet betalen aan de rechtbank bij de start van uw procedure. wordt van uw rekening-courant griffierechten afgeschreven.
Wanneer ontvangt u de apostille of legalisatie?
- Bij de balie: u kunt meestal aan de balie wachten totdat u het document met de apostille of legalisatie meekrijgt.
- Per post: Heeft u het griffierecht betaald? Dan stuurt de rechtbank het document met de apostille of legalisatie erop terug. Dit doet de rechtbank na 1 a 2 werkdagen. Als u het document per aangetekende post heeft verstuurd, doet de rechtbank dit ook.

How can I get documents legalised or apostilled?
Do you want to use a Dutch document in another country? In many cases you have to demonstrate that the document is official. You can do that with an apostille or by legalisation. Which of these you need depends on the country for which the document is intended.

Requesting an apostille or legalisation
You can ask for apostilles and legalisations in two ways: at the courthouse centrale balie or in writing.
If you would like to ask for an apostille or legalisation in writing, provide the following information by letter:
- whether you want an apostille or legalisation
- for what country the documents are intended
- in what language you would like it (Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish or Italian)

Don’t forget to put your address in the letter. You can also put the letter into the letterbox. The letterbox in Haarlem is located at: Jansstraat 81, Haarlem.
Will I get an acknowledgement of receipt?
- If you hand in the documents at the courthouse, you can get a copy of the covering letter, with a stamp showing the date of receipt, from the doorman/messenger.
- If you send the documents by regular post, you won't get an acknowledgement of receipt.
- If you send the documents by registered post, you get an acknowledgement of receipt from PostNL.
When will I get the document back?
After receipt, the court sends a payment authorisation slip or debits the court fees to your current account.
If you have paid the court fees, the court sends the document back bearing the apostille or legalisation after one to two business days. The court does the same if you have sent the document by registered post.
Urgency
If you need an apostille urgently? Then you can personally take the document to the main reception desk. This is possible until 16:30.
