Court fees are the costs that you must pay the court at the start of your case. The amount of these costs varies. The amount that you pay in court fees depends on the case itself, on your income and on whether you are acting on your own as a private person or as an organisation (a ‘legal entity’).

How much are the court fees?

Court fees for appeals (in Dutch)

Court fees for the Netherlands’ highest appeal court (‘cassation’) and review (in Dutch)

Special assistance to help you pay court fees

If you have a low income, you can apply to your municipality for special assistance ('bijzondere bijstand') to help you pay the fees. Your municipality will decide if you can get the special assistance. Contact your municipality to get more information.
